Living in Southern California, we are so lucky to have access to a variety of activities. Summer is the perfect time to get out and have an adventure. Here are a few destinations we highly recommend.
First off, Wilson Creek Winery is a great place to stop in the Temecula Valley, providing you with options for the full experience. They offer a tasting room that is open from 10am to 5pm. The tasting room is great for seasoned wine drinkers and newcomers to find the perfect varietal for your palate. If you are more interested in the process, there are also comprehensive tours of the beautiful estate. Plus, you can grab a bite to eat at the grille when it comes time to nosh.
If you are looking to spend a sunny summer afternoon closer to the coast, consider Del Mar Racetrack. An American thoroughbred horse racing track dating back to 1937, it is a beautiful seaside location just north of San Diego. Racing begins in July and ends in September so be sure to take part in this historical seasonal experience.
Next stop is just south of the Del Mar Fairgrounds at the La Jolla Shores. Make sure to pack a swimsuit and a towel because the cove is an ideal place to swim and snorkel. If you are a little water-shy just take in the beautiful coastline while soaking up some sun beachside. The cove is well known for its abundance in wildlife and majestic views that lend to a sublime sunset after a day at the beach.
Last stop is a decadent upscale choice for seafood. The Oceanaire Seafood Room, in the heart of the Gaslamp District, offers a fine selection of surf and turf along with a large list of wines and spirits to be paired with. If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience after a day in the city, this is a superb option. After dinner, head over to the Prohibition Lounge for a sophisticated cocktail experience with live jazz, soul, and blues music. The Prohibition Lounge has an ultra-smooth intimate atmosphere that is simply irresistible.
We are always looking for new hot spots, so feel free to comment any suggestions you want to share. Make sure to tag us in your adventures with #mbtemecula!
