We've been in the car business for a long time, and perhaps the most common reason our customers give us for upgrading to a midsize SUV is for the added space. When you fold the 40/20/40 split rear seats in the Mercedes-Benz GLC, you'll appreciate up to 56.5 cubic feet of max cargo space compared to 54 cubic feet in the back of the new Audi Q5. Passengers will enjoy essentially the same seating dimensions, but that doesn't mean these two models feel the same. That has a lot to do with the standard and available features in both models.
Standard features waiting for you in a new 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC include power front seats with three-position memory. The driver's seat even includes adjustable thigh support. Power-folding side mirrors and KEYLESS GO® also come with every new Mercedes-Benz GLC, and they're just a few examples of features that will cost more as upgrades in the new Audi Q5.
You're probably familiar with the touchscreen interfaces that have become common in modern cars. The Mercedes-Benz GLC does come standard with a slightly larger center touchscreen display than the Audi Q5, but that's not where you'll experience the biggest difference. Mercedes-Benz continues to pave new roads in the industry by utilizing multimedia to immerse drivers and passengers in a comprehensive experience. They call it the Mercedes-Benz User Experience, or MBUX for short. It combines convenient touch controls, digital displays, and other technological advancements with a voice control system that's nothing less than industry advancing. We think you'll agree that it's preferable to the system that comes with the new 2021 Audi Q5.
Upgrading to a German luxury SUV necessarily means upgrading to a higher level of performance. The latest Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5 certainly deliver. They both start out with roughly the same power and fuel economy. Perhaps one of the most significant differences is that the Mercedes-Benz GLC enters the market with rear-wheel drive compared to the Audi Q5 that's only offered as an all-wheel drive SUV. Some enthusiasts will tell you that the rear-wheel drive configuration is sportier and more fun to drive, and you do have the option to upgrade the GLC to all-wheel drive if you're looking for better traction on those winter ski trips.
Another difference between these luxury SUVs that you're likely to notice on the road is the transmission. The new Mercedes-Benz GLC is equipped with an exceptional nine-speed automatic transmission compared to the seven speed automatic in the Audi Q5. The result is better response when passing, climbing hills, merging with freeway traffic, and more. Take the short drive from Murrieta, Menifee, or anywhere throughout Southern California to discover the new Mercedes-Benz GLC from behind the wheel at our dealership in Temecula, CA.
From the daily commute, to errands with the kids and weekend getaways, your safety on the road is of paramount concern. This is a subject where Mercedes-Benz continues to lead the industry. The Audi Q5 is recognized as being safe with modern passive and active safety features like airbags, pre-collision braking, and crumple zones that you would expect in a modern luxury SUV. Did you know that it was Mercedes-Benz that first introduced crumple zones to the automotive world?
That level of innovation and dedication to safety on our roadways continues in the new 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC. It's equipped standard with features like Crosswind Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST®, and PARKTRONIC® with Active Parking Assist. That means the new Mercedes-Benz GLC can park itself and these are just a few examples of how Mercedes-Benz pulls ahead of Audi in terms of safety for you and your family.
With starting MSRPs within $100 of each other, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5 speak well for their brands. However, when you consider all that you're getting for your money, we think you'll reach the same conclusion that we have. A new luxury SUV from Mercedes-Benz represents an industry-leading level of quality, technology, and comprehensive value that the competition from Audi simply falls short of.
