• Increased Braking Distance – If your vehicle is not braking as well as it used to? If you notice that the vehicle’s braking distance increases, it may need immediate brake service or repair care.
• Squealing Noise – If you hear a squeaking or squealing sound when you step on the brake pedal, it may indicate that your brake pads are due for a replacement. When your brake pads are completely worn out, their metal backing plate will grind against the brake rotors, resulting in the annoying noise you hear. If you allow the problem to persist, you’ll likely have to replace your rotors as well.
• Spongy Brake Pedal – Your braking system should deliver resistance when you press the brake pedal. If the pedal feels soft or spongy and completely sinks to the floor, you may be dealing with a bad master cylinder, which requires a specialized repair. Other possible causes include a lack of brake fluid and air in the brake lines.
• Leaking Brake Fluid – If you notice yellow leaking fluid from your vehicle, do not drive it! Your vehicle is leaking brake fluid which could compromise the vehicle’s ability to come to a complete stop.
• Vehicle Pulling to One Side – If you notice your vehicle pulling to one side during braking, it’s probably because one of your front brakes isn’t working properly. However, there are many other possible culprits behind this problem, including low brake fluid, a hung brake caliper, a brake line blockage, or loose bearings. So, it’s best to get a professional brake inspection.
• Vibrating Steering Wheel – Warped or rusty brake rotors can cause your steering wheel to shake when you apply the brakes. Fortunately, it doesn’t always mean that you need to get new rotors. In many cases, you can have your rotors resurfaced at a service center, which costs much less than a rotor replacement.
