Dimensions & Capacities

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Dodge ProMaster are both top performers in the realm of commercial vehicles. When it comes to overall capability, though, the Sprinter pulls ahead. Compare their specs below:

  • Conventional Cargo Capacity: Behind the first row, the ProMaster offers 259 cubic feet of cargo space. The new Sprinter Cargo Van, on the other hand, offers 319.1 cubic feet with the standard roof, 144-wheelbase configuration.
  • Maximum Cargo Capacity: The ProMaster maxes out at 463 cubic feet of cargo room. The Sprinter Cargo Van’s cavernous interior, however, offers up to 530 cubic feet with the high roof, 170-inch extended wheelbase.
  • Towing: The Sprinter Cargo Van tows 5,000 pounds, while the ProMaster tows 5,100 pounds. However, no matter which Sprinter Van you choose, be it the Cargo or Crew Van, you can tow the same amount.

Compared to the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the Dodge ProMaster may seem like a bargain with its lower starting MSRP. The truth is, the Sprinter is built to save you money in the long run. Case in point: its 20,000-mile service interval. Service for the Dodge ProMaster, on the other hand, is suggested every 10,000 miles, resulting in higher service costs and more downtime.

When you think “work van,” you think “efficiency.” In that regard, the ProMaster seems to be lacking, at least when you compare it to the Sprinter Cargo Van. Unlike the ProMaster, the Sprinter comes equipped with or offers the following features:

  • Crosswind Assist: This system uses targeted rear-wheel braking to keep the Sprinter Van on course against strong side-blowing winds on San Diego roads.
  • Optional ATTENTION ASSIST®: Over time, ATTENTION ASSIST® learns your driving behaviors and will notify you if it detects drowsiness or inattention.
