Performance & Efficiency
In terms of performance, the two luxury sedans have much in common. For example, both the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E 300 and Lexus GS 300 have a 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine that outputs 241 hp. However, the E 300 produces 273 lb-ft of torque, 15 more lb-ft than the GS, making for quicker acceleration. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E 300 also provides better handling. While the Lexus GS has an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class comes equipped with a 9G-TRONIC® 9-speed automatic transmission for smoother gear shifting.
Comfort & Convenience Features
Features like ambient interior lighting and LED taillamps are included on both sedans. However, the Mercedes-Benz provides features that make driving less of a hassle at no extra cost. While rain-sensing wipers and a 12.3-inch navigation display are optional for the Lexus GS 300, these features come standard on the Mercedes-Benz E 300. Additionally, only the Mercedes-Benz comes with standard Car-to-X Communication. By communicating with other vehicles and traffic infrastructure, this feature sends drivers warning messages about current driving conditions and hazards before they’re in the driver’s line of vision.
